Mechanic Positions Available (Usibelli Coal Mine, Healy, Alaska)

There is currently a need to fill Mechanic positions. February 2010 Usibelli Coal Mine is seeking an experienced Journeyman, Diesel and/or Heavy Equipment Mechanic. The individual will work at the mine headquarters located in Healy, Alaska. Duties include repair, rebuild, and installation of components on dozers, loaders, haul trucks, and other mine related equipment. Tasks include troubleshooting, diagnostics, fault correction, repair and fabrication on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and other related systems of mine production vehicles and support equipment. The candidate must be able to read maintenance manuals and related blueprints/schematics. Experience/Qualifications: An Alaska Journeyman ticket and at least five years experience in either mining or industrial maintenance fields are preferred. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and must pass a post-job offer physical and drug test. Salary dependent on experience. Environmental Professional - Position Available (Usibelli Coal Mine, Inc.)

Usibelli Coal Mine, Inc. Opening for Environmental Professional Usibelli Coal Mine, Inc. (UCM) is accepting applications for positions in environmental management, permitting and compliance. The environmental staff at UCM is responsible for providing environmental services to our several operating units and affiliate companies. • Usibelli Coal Mine, Healy, Alaska – Company flagship coal mining operations since 1943. • Wishbone Hill Project Office, Palmer, Alaska – Project office for potential new mine, presently undergoing exploration and feasibility analysis. • Aurora Energy, LLC, Fairbanks, Alaska – Affiliate company operating coal heat and power plant in downtown Fairbanks. • Aurora Energy Services, LLC – Affiliate company operating coal export terminal in Seward, Alaska. General responsibilities for the environmental function at UCM include: • Maintenance of existing and procurement of new permits under State and Federal regulatory systems relevant to the several operations. • Manage compliance with regulations and permits and provide guidance to management and supervision regarding requirements for compliance. • Management of environmental consultants used in support of permitting and compliance activities. • Liaison with State and Federal regulators regarding current regulatory matters and proposed or anticipated future regulations or legislation. Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline and five years of experience at a professional level. Experience with the coal mining regulatory program and regulatory programs relevant to coal power generation would also be very helpful. Electrician (Seward, Alaska)

EXPERIENCE: 3+ years industrial electrical experience desired. Troubleshoot skills a must and the ability to maintain 12v to 480v systems. Knowledge of programmable logic controls and other control systems. Knowledge of motor starters, gear boxes and conveyor systems. Must be able to read blueprints. Ability and willingness to train less skilled personnel as electrical/mechanical helpers. Ability to adjust quickly to changing conditions and multiple priorities. Millwright skills considered a plus. A willingness to work in a variety of conditions( field, shop, hot or cold conditions etc. Ability to lift up to 60lbs. Overtime hours including weekends and shift work required. Prefers person is Journey Level Electrician but will consider applicants that have electrical training and experience. JOB DESCRIPTION: regularly performs electrical and mechanical installation and maintenance of conveyor related equipment and facilities. Daily operation of plant equipment. Provide assistance on other plant and other field production as needed. Responsible for troubleshooting electrical/mechanical systems. Depended upon to identify and explore automation possibilities. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Install, inspect, and maintain plant electrical and mechanical systems. Identify electrical/mechanical needs and develop designs and recommendations. assist in analyzing cost effectiveness of repairing vs. replacing and make recommendations. Install additions to existing systems as required for new equipment installation or functional changes. Actively participate in fabrication and/or expansion/upgrade projects. Diagnose and resolve technical problems. Evaluate/install PLC control systems when advantageous over conventional control systems. Actively participate in daily operation of the plant. Modify existing systems as needed to improve production efficiency and safety. Non union position excellent benefits pay DOE. Position in Seward.
